DARK INTENTIONS Jockeyed by David Monroe
January Week 4
Legends were born not made at least many people had that saying in their minds. Yes, legends could be born some earned it and some deserved it Dark Intentions came from the lines of a legendary family and his lines would be tested with him. A son to the Hall of Fame Inductee True Enough and by Moondance he would honor his lines proudly. He also came from the lines of Dancing in the Moonlight and Foolish Entity a family of Grade One high stakes racers was quite noticeable. David walked the short 15.3 hands high colt who walked like a king in his stall holding his head high he would show off the first bits of coming out of his stall David rubbed his nose gently. "Your father was an incredible horse as is your mother, but I believe you are to be better my friend. Let's show them huh?" David said as Beauty nipped his shoulder towards the compliment.
The black colt was entered in the Unicorn Horn Juvenile Dirt against stablemate Excalibur's Stone, Ares, Quick Silver, Fire Goddess, and his own brother Incognito. It seemed True Enough lines were sprouting this season and they would make it great. Joining him was Heart of Rio, a mare by Aces Diamond Rio out of Kiss the True Heart. The bay mare had age and maturity on her juvenile uncle and would enjoy schooling the young flirty colt to her own desire. Raya was up against such horses like Predator, Ramirez, In front, and Amarillo Sky here at the Clark Handicap. The two approached the tracks with a glamorous stare at one another. Lawrence was the jockey assigned to Raya who agreed that this mare was not the easiest mare to stay in one place for to long.
The two started as they entered the track, Dark Intentions took off ahead of Raya with a playful canter before making his strides serious. He was on a good start pushing himself on a forward pace, staying within the middle of the track Heart of Rio staying her place behind him saving her energy for the best of the track. The mare locked herself hot on Beauty's heels like playing following the leader before Beauty drew back falling on the inside pacing Raya using his charms to try to distract her but failing at the point before Raya pushed him harder only using the motive of flirting back.
"Come on Raya its your turn girl." Lawrence said before releasing the mare off to her own accord, Raya fighting with the black colt on the way to the last turn. Beauty soon then to pick up some incredible speed and used his short status to use for his own advantage. Beauty was quick on his feet, he ran on his toes barely touching the ground beneath him pacing Raya he began to push forward. David took a breath but kept his eyes on the track steering Dark Intentions around the last turn before he took off again but Raya was not letting him taking this one.
Heart of Rio gained her stamina to and pushed herself faster to beat Dark Intentions by a nose at best. The mare was growing older and she would gain more experience as would Dark Intentions. The Unicorn Horn Series would face a tough field in all divisions as would the races here at the wire. They would take on the race day with every passion and commitment they had for the run to let the race day be theirs.
